Backblaze B2 bucket and application key

Create a Backblaze B2 account and bucket, then an application key scoped to that bucket; the keyID and applicationKey work with the B2 and S3-compatible APIs.

Steps

Steps marked “human step” are ones only you can do: verapli never signs in, submits, pays or accepts terms for you.

  1. Create or sign in to a Backblaze account

The person signs up for B2 Cloud Storage at backblaze.com. verapli never creates the account.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You press submit

    Where: https://www.backblaze.com/sign-up/cloud-storage

  2. Create a bucket

In the web console under B2 Cloud Storage, create a bucket for the app (private unless files must be public).

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You press submit
    • After: Create or sign in to a Backblaze account
  3. Create an application key

Open Application Keys, click Add a New Application Key, name it, restrict Allow Access to Bucket(s) to the one bucket, choose Read and Write (or narrower), and create it. Do not use the master key in apps. verapli captures the applicationKey, which appears only once, and the keyID.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • Human step: You press submit
    • After: Create a bucket

verapli captures B2_APPLICATION_KEY here by plain code: encrypted in your browser, never shown to AI.

Can cost moneyThe rules say

The master application key gives complete access to the account, and generating a new one invalidates the old one; use bucket-scoped keys for apps. [1]
