Who owns what

A HERE platform account belongs to an organisation (realm). Inside it, projects group resources and access; apps hold credentials (API keys or OAuth 2.0 access keys). Billing is on the Base Plan.

  • HERE platform account / organisation organisation owned by you or your companyEither self sign-up or an invitation from your organisation's admin.
  • Base Plan billing billing · under HERE platform account / organisationA payment method is required during onboarding for new customers.
  • Project projectoptional · under HERE platform account / organisationGroups resources and access and tracks usage; HERE docs do not state it is mandatory for Location Services [to verify].
  • App developer · under HERE platform account / organisationEach app has a unique app ID and holds up to two API keys and up to two OAuth credentials.

App credentials do not inherit your user permissions or group memberships.

Have ready

  • An email address to verify for the HERE account
  • Decide API key (simple, client apps) or OAuth 2.0 tokens (server-side, multi-project): HERE recommends OAuth 2.0 tokens with a project scope for apps that need several projects.
  • A payment method plus billing and address details for the Base Plan · New customers must enter a payment method during onboarding to access the platform. [2]Needed for: Sign up for a HERE platform account (Base Plan)

Steps

Steps marked “human step” are ones only you can do: verapli never signs in, submits, pays or accepts terms for you.

  1. Sign up for a HERE platform account (Base Plan)

You sign up via "Get started for free", accept the terms and enter a payment method and billing address. You are not expected to be charged below the free monthly thresholds.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You add payment details

    Where: https://www.here.com/get-started/pricing

  2. Verify your email and sign in

Verify the email you registered with, then sign in to the HERE platform.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You sign in
    • After: Sign up for a HERE platform account (Base Plan)

    Where: https://platform.here.com/

  3. Create a project and link services (recommended)optional

In Projects Manager, click Create new project, enter a name and a project ID (4–16 characters, unique, cannot be changed), save, then on Resources > Services link the Location Services you need.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • After: Verify your email and sign in

    Where: https://platform.here.com/

  4. Register an app

In Access Manager > Apps, click Register new app, optionally pick a default project, and register. HERE recommends "Allow access in only default project" for apps using API keys.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • After: Verify your email and sign in

    Where: https://platform.here.com/

  5. Create an API key

Open the app > Credentials > API Keys > Create API key. Up to two keys per app (use the second for rotation). Optionally add up to 20 trusted domains and turn on Enable trusted domains.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • After: Register an app

verapli captures HERE_API_KEY here by plain code: encrypted in your browser, never shown to AI.

    If something goes wrong (2)
    • The Credentials tab is missing or greyed out: You may lack manager permissions for the app; ask an org admin to grant them. [5]
    • Trusted-domain changes seem to have no effect: Changes can take up to 30 minutes; also check Enable trusted domains is on and at least one domain is listed. [5]

    Where: https://platform.here.com/

  6. Create OAuth 2.0 credentials (server-side alternative)optional

Open the app > Credentials > OAuth 2.0 > Create credentials, then Download credentials.properties. The access key secret is shown only once. Exchange it for bearer tokens valid up to 24 hours.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • After: Register an app

verapli captures HERE_ACCESS_KEY_SECRET here by plain code: encrypted in your browser, never shown to AI.
