Who owns what

A Neon user can belong to organizations; projects hold branches, computes, databases and roles.

  • Neon user personal owned by the person
  • Organization organisation · under Neon user
  • Project project

Steps

Steps marked “human step” are ones only you can do: verapli never signs in, submits, pays or accepts terms for you.

  1. Create or sign in to a Neon account

The person signs up or signs in at the Neon Console. verapli never creates the account.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You press submit

    Where: https://console.neon.tech/signup

  2. Create the project

Click New Project, enter a name, pick the Region (which also fixes the cloud provider) close to the app, set the Postgres version, and create the project.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • Human step: You press submit
    • After: Create or sign in to a Neon account

    Where: https://console.neon.tech/app/projects

  3. Copy the connection string

Click Connect, choose branch, database and role, keep pooling on (default) and copy the connection string, which includes the password, into DATABASE_URL.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • After: Create the project

verapli captures DATABASE_URL here by plain code: encrypted in your browser, never shown to AI.

    Where: https://console.neon.tech/app/projects

  4. Create a Neon API key (optional)optional

For automation, open Settings, API keys (personal in the profile menu, organization or project-scoped in the organization) and create a key. It is shown once; verapli captures it into NEON_API_KEY.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You press submit
    • After: Create or sign in to a Neon account

Worth knowingThe rules say

On Free, computes scale to zero after 5 minutes idle and this cannot be disabled, so the first query after idle is slower; storage is 1 GB per project. [4]

Worth knowingThe rules say

Project-scoped API keys limit blast radius; personal keys reach every organization project the user belongs to. [3]
