Who owns what

A Vercel account owns a personal Hobby team; Pro teams are separate paid teams. Projects live under a team.

  • Vercel account personal owned by the person
  • Team (Hobby or Pro) organisation · under Vercel accountCommercial projects need a Pro or Enterprise team.
  • Project project · under Team (Hobby or Pro)

Have ready

  • A Git repository on GitHub, GitLab or Bitbucket (dashboard route), or Node.js 18+ for the CLI route.
  • A card, only if the project is commercial and needs the Pro plan. · Hobby is restricted to non-commercial personal use; Pro is paid per developer seat. [3]Needed for: Upgrade to Pro if the project is commercial

Steps

Steps marked “human step” are ones only you can do: verapli never signs in, submits, pays or accepts terms for you.

  1. Create or sign in to a Vercel account

The person signs up at vercel.com/signup (or signs in). verapli never creates the account.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You press submit

    Where: https://vercel.com/signup

  2. Create the project

Either open the New Project page, connect the Git provider and import the repo, then press Deploy; or install the CLI (npm i -g vercel), run vercel login, and run vercel in the project folder.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • Human step: You press submit
    • After: Create or sign in to a Vercel account

    Where: https://vercel.com/new

  3. Upgrade to Pro if the project is commercialoptional

In team Settings → Billing, choose Upgrade, enter card details and confirm. Needed for any commercial use.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You add payment details
    • After: Create or sign in to a Vercel account
  4. Create an access token

On the Tokens page in account settings, create a token with the narrowest scope and an expiry, then let verapli capture it into VERCEL_TOKEN. The token is shown once.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • Human step: You press submit
    • After: Create or sign in to a Vercel account

verapli captures VERCEL_TOKEN here by plain code: encrypted in your browser, never shown to AI.

Can get you bannedThe rules say

Hobby is non-commercial only

Hobby teams are restricted to non-commercial personal use. Any deployment used for anyone's financial gain (taking payments, advertising products, ads, being paid to build or host the site) needs Pro or Enterprise. Donations do not count as commercial. [4]

Worth knowingThe rules say

On Hobby, exceeding a usage limit usually means waiting until 30 days have passed before the feature works again; there is no pay-as-you-go. [3]

What you end up with
