Who owns what

A personal API token belongs to one Wise Business account and acts on that account only. Partners building for their own customers use OAuth 2.0 client credentials issued by Wise instead.

  • Wise Business account organisation owned by the businessMust be verified before going live with the API.
  • Wise sandbox account developeroptional owned by the personSeparate account on wise-sandbox.com; email and password only, no verification.
  • Wise Platform partner integration developeroptional owned by the businessOnly with a partnership agreement; credentials are managed in Developer Hub.

Personal-token accounts do not get Developer Hub access.

Wise recommends separate credentials for sandbox and production.

Can cost moneyThe rules say

PSD2 strong customer authentication
