Meta Business Verification

Meta's check that a business portfolio belongs to a real, registered business and that you represent it. Required for advanced access to developer permissions, apps that let other businesses' data flow through them, the WhatsApp Business Platform and several advertising features. Done in Security Centre by a full-control admin; Meta says a decision may take up to 14 working days.

Who owns what

Verification belongs to the business portfolio, not to a person or an app. A person with full control of the portfolio submits it; any app connected to that verified portfolio inherits the status.

  • Business portfolio organisation owned by the companyMust be eligible (Security Centre shows Start verification) and the submitter needs full control.
  • Meta developer app developeroptional owned by the company · under Business portfolioConnect the app to the portfolio in App Dashboard > Settings > Basic > Verification to use the verified status.

Editing the business details after verification means verifying again.

Meta Verified for businesses (the paid blue badge) is a different product and does not count.

Have ready

  • meta/business-portfolio: Verification happens on a business portfolio where you have full control.
  • A legally registered business with an official phone number or postal address: Sole traders without registration documents may not be able to complete it [to verify per country].
  • An official document showing the exact legal business name, plus the address or phone: certificate or articles of incorporation, business registration or licence, government-issued tax certificate, or a business bank statement. Unexpired, issued by the authority, readable, uncropped. · Needed if Meta cannot match your business to a record automatically. Self-filed tax documents are not accepted. [3]Needed for: Upload official documents if no record matches
  • A utility bill in the legal business name (accepted for address and phone only, never for the legal name). · Backs the address or phone if the registration document does not show it. [3]Needed for: Upload official documents if no record matches
  • The business website live on HTTPS with no broken links, showing the same legal name, address and phone you will enter. · A site that fails to load, is not HTTPS or links to an error page is a listed rejection reason. [4]Needed for: Enter the business details
  • A mailbox on the website's domain that you can read, or a business phone that can take a call, SMS or WhatsApp message. · Meta sends a code to the business's email or phone, or you verify the domain, to prove you represent the business. [2]Needed for: Confirm your connection to the business
  • English translations stamped by a translating agency, if your documents are not in one of Meta's supported languages. · Documents must be in a supported language. [3]Needed for: Upload official documents if no record matches

Steps

Steps marked “human step” are ones only you can do: verapli never signs in, submits, pays or accepts terms for you.

  1. Open Security Centre and check eligibility

In Meta Business Suite go to Security Centre. If you can't open it you probably lack full control. If you see Ineligible for verification, you don't need it there; follow the email or product prompt that asked for verification instead.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You sign in
    If something goes wrong (1)
    • Start verification button is missing.: Make sure you have full control of the portfolio. Third-party experience is that completing every Business info field (legal name, address, phone, website) often makes the button appear; some products (e.g. a developer app or WhatsApp) start verification from their own prompt instead. [9]

  2. Connect your developer app to the portfolio (developers only)optional

In the App Dashboard, open Settings > Basic > Verification and choose Start Verification (or + Business Verification) to link the app to this business portfolio. If the portfolio is already verified, you are done.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You press submit

    Where: https://developers.facebook.com/apps/

  3. Enter the business details

Click Start verification and enter the legal business name, address, phone number and website exactly as they appear on the registration record. The website must load over https://.

    • verapli co-pilot
    • Human step: You press submit
    • After: Open Security Centre and check eligibility

    Where: https://business.facebook.com/settings/

  4. Upload official documents if no record matchesoptional

If Meta finds no matching record, choose My business isn't listed or None of these match and upload official documents that show the legal name and the address or phone. Cover personal data Meta doesn't need, such as personal ID numbers. The person must upload these themselves.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You prove your identity
    • After: Enter the business details
    If something goes wrong (3)
    • Document rejected as self-filed or unofficial.: Upload a document issued by the relevant authority (incorporation certificate, registration, government tax certificate) or a business bank statement; self-filed tax documents are not accepted. [3]
    • Utility bill not accepted.: A utility bill only proves address and phone; prove the legal name with a registration, tax or bank document. [3]
    • Document not accepted because of language.: Use one of the supported languages or English translations stamped by a translating agency. [3]
  5. Confirm your connection to the business

Choose how to prove you represent the business: email, phone call, text message, WhatsApp message, or domain verification (meta tag or DNS record). Enter the code yourself, then click Done.

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: You enter a 2-step code
    • After: Enter the business details
    If something goes wrong (1)
    • The code never arrives at the business email.: Check the domain receives mail (MX records) or switch to domain verification with a DNS TXT record or meta tag. [5]
  6. Wait for Meta's decision

Meta notifies you when the review is complete. Track status in Security Centre (or the product where you started).

    • Guided by hand
    • Human step: The provider reviews it
    • After: Confirm your connection to the business
    The provider says
A decision may take up to 14 working days. [1]
    People report
A solution provider's docs repeat "up to 14 business days"; independent reports of faster or slower decisions vary [to verify]. [9]
    If something goes wrong (3)
    • Rejected because the website failed to load, was not HTTPS, or linked to an error page.: Fix the site (valid TLS, no broken links, legal name, address and phone visible), then check Security Centre for appeal or resubmission options. [4]
    • Rejected without a specific reason.: Cross-check the common causes - exact legal name on documents, profile and website; full, legible, uncropped documents; same address and registration number everywhere - then appeal or resubmit from Security Centre. [10]
    • Rejected as suspected false information or an unauthorised claim.: Only an authorised representative of a business you are entitled to represent should submit; do not resubmit altered documents. [4]

Can get you bannedThe rules say

False or borrowed details can lose verification

If you provide false or misleading information, try to verify a business you aren't authorised to represent, or try to get around the review, Meta may block verification, remove verified status or take further action on the account. [1]

Can cost moneyThe rules say

Developers lose advanced access without it

Since 2023, advanced access to any developer permission needs a verified business; apps not linked to a verified (or pending) business lose advanced permission access. [7]

Worth knowingThe rules say

Editing details means verifying again

If you edit your business details after verification, you need to complete verification again. [1]

Worth knowingThe rules say

Not the blue badge

Business verification is different from the paid Meta Verified for businesses subscription and gives no badge. [1]

Can cost moneyPeople report

Gmail-style addresses and mismatched names cause trouble

A solution provider advises using an email on the website's own domain (not Gmail) and making the legal name, address and phone on the website match exactly; partners cannot upload documents for you. [9]

Pricing

  • No fee is mentioned in Meta's verification help articles; Meta Verified for businesses is a separate paid product.
